About Us

Cubby House Turners & Woodies Inc was originally established as Southern Region Woodturners Inc on 02 February 1986. In that 25+ years, we have become well known in the Shire as a progressive and dynamic group of men and women; proud of our achievements and involvement in charitable activities.

As our name implies, we are passionate about timber and the beautiful things you can create from it. Our members believe there is no greater joy than starting with a blank piece of timber and finishing up with a beautifully crafted piece of art.

We are very lucky to have our own hall; affectionately known as "The Cubby House". It is situated in Como Oval with access from Como Road, Oyster Bay (opposite Scylla Road). When we first discovered The Cubby House it was an old disused Scout Hall, destined to be demolished. We approached Sutherland Shire Council who agreed to our using the hall and now, after many years of hard work and loving care, it is enjoyed several times a month by our 100 or so members.
